The humble cauliflower has been rediscovered in all its versatile glory – steamed, roasted, stir-fried, grilled – you name it the cauliflower can (and will) handle it.

Aside from its versatility it offers a whole host of nutritional benefits as well. Cauliflower contains loads of fibre which is important in keeping our gut happy and healthy, and reducing our risk of bowel cancer. With bowel cancer being the second most fatal cancer in Australia, we could all definitely benefit from a little extra fibre in our lives! Cauliflower is also a great source of Vitamin C which is not only a powerful antioxidant, but also a great immune booster to help fight off the common cold virus this winter season. Three cheers for cauliflower!

These tasty little popcorn substitutes even count towards your 5 serves of vegetables per day. Why not try them as a snack or a side dish.


1 small head of cauliflower
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp smoked or sweet paprika
1/2 tsp turmeric
Seasoning to taste

What to do:

1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.  Line baking tray with baking paper.

2. Cut the cauliflower into florets

3. Toss all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and lay on a baking tray, bake for around 20 minutes, until golden and a little bit crisp.

4. Serve and see long you can make them last!!
